Lovely Lentil Heart Nourishing Soup

This delicious red lentil soup is full of heart nourishing flavor. Lentils, cinnamon, and chili powder strengthen the heart to help improve palpitations, anxiety and insomnia.


  • 1 cup red lentils, soaked for 6 hours or overnight, rinsed and drained

  • 7 cups vegetable broth

  • 1 sweet potato, peeled and chopped

  • 3 carrots, peeled and chopped

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp coriander

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1 tsp himalayan salt

  • 1 TBSP ghee


Mix cumin, coriander, chili powder, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl. In a large soup pot, add ghee and melt over medium-high heat. Add onion, garlic and carrots and saute for 3 minutes. Add 1 cup of vegetable broth and spices and turn heat to low. Simmer for 6 minutes. Add lentils, sweet potato, and remaining 6 cups of broth. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
